Justworks Mobile Content Audit
My main project for Justworks was to conduct a thorough content audit of the mobile app.
Problem: Old content was brought into new projects because there wasn’t a CMS that displayed the most updated copy. This resulted in slower productivity and confusion, since the content designers had to rewrite copy they had written before.
Goal: To verify content on production and point out inconsistencies to finalize the content repository and create a source of truth.
Actions I took to complete this project: I reevaluated existing content to ensure it remained as clear and concise as it was on day one. I took note of inconsistencies, places where we broke style guide rules, and facilitated meetings to adjust them. To remedy old content being brought into new projects, I added the ‘last updated’ tab from the table of contents to the audit so that designers could pull the most recent screen into the new project.
Result: All content on production was verified. I laid the foundation for consistency across the product, and it helped the team prepare for an app consolidation. With the new ‘last updated’ tab, I promoted an increase in productivity since time didn’t have to be wasted rewriting.
During the information gathering stage, I raised concerns about the empty states I encountered and was invited to work on the empty states redesign.
I took my project a step further by teaming up with engineers to create a Slackbot that pulled information from the content audit and style guide using commands. This was intended for product designers to use when the content designers weren’t around (there’s only 2 on the team) so that they can have the information they need. You can watch the demo below. :)
